Use Less technologies

Much of the response to climate change to date has been to invest hope and money in the idea that technical innovation will lead to new profitable solutions to the problem.

As made clear elsewhere on this site, this is an ill-founded hope, and one that is delaying the necessity of using less which is central to any realistic mitigation plan. However, given that it is commercially attractive in the immediate short term to invest in new technologies with potentially growing markets, we are exploring opportunities for new materials processing technologies to support a transition to using less material.

Two obvious avenues for developing such technologies are to reduce production scrap and to support the re-use of materials at end of life. The projects listed below demonstrate how these two motivation can lead to profitable innovations in use-less technologies.

In aiming to use materials more efficiently with less scrap, we have:
