Catherine joined the group in 2017, with several years of industry experience in the energy and water sectors as well as BEng(Civ) and BEng(Env) degrees from the University of Newcastle, Australia.
She completed her PhD, which examined the link between climate change, food systems and societal collapse, in 2021 and received the British Federation of Women Graduates Award for Outstanding Doctoral Research. During her time at Cambridge, Catherine also worked at the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk, received the Award for Outstanding Contributions from CU Sport for her efforts leading CU Polo Club, earned a Full Blue in polo and served her college, Peterhouse, as MCR Treasurer
